Lake County enhancing outreach

TAVARES —To further promote outreach to citizens, increase community engagement and attract visitors, Lake County’s Office of Communications has filled two vacancies, welcoming new members Tiffany Henderson, Lead Public Information Officer, and Jenny De Witt, Public Information Officer.
 
Prior to joining Lake County, Henderson was an award-winning television news reporter for more than a decade. Most recently, she reported at the local Fox affiliate covering Central Florida for the past seven years. 
 
Henderson holds a Master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and she received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Spanish from the University of Michigan. She enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and traveling.
Henderson will primarily focus on media relations and outreach, Board of County Commissioner initiatives, crisis communications, Public Safety and Compliance including Fire Rescue, Emergency Management and the Office of EMS, the Lake County Animal Shelter, Budget, Building Services, Planning & Zoning, Code Enforcement and Infrastructure and Internal Support Services including Public Works.
 
De Witt is a results-driven strategist and content creator. Her background includes over 12 years’ experience in social media strategy, community management, marketing and new media training for corporate, higher education and non-profit organizations. She is also the creator of Townie Tourist, a live Facebook show and online publication that explores and shares all that the Central Florida region has to offer. She loves storytelling with video, agritourism and traveling to new places.
 
De Witt will be responsible for promoting the services offered by the Offices of Elevate Lake and Visit Lake, The Fairgrounds and Event Center, Parks & Trails, the Lake County Library System, the UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County, the Community Services Department which includes Transit, Housing, Health & Human Services and Probation, as well as internal communications. 
 
The Office of Communications is responsible for media relations, social media, web development, graphic design and print production. The office manages more than 30 total websites and social media accounts, issues hundreds of news releases annually, responds to media and public records requests and pitches news stories to reporters and influencers.
