Lake County Workforce Taskforce hosts Generation Y, Z expert

TAVARES — The newly formed Lake County Workforce Taskforce, spearheaded by the Lake County Economic Growth Department, will host Mark C. Perna, workforce development expert, during its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Lake Technical College’s Institute of Public Safety, 1565 Lane Park Cut-Off, Tavares. 

Perna, founder of the consulting firm Tools for Schools, will present “Maximizing Performance and Retention with Gen Y and Z.” The talk is targeted towards businesses of all sizes and will focus on organization recruitment, retention and performance rates in the fast-paced business world of the 21st century. He will offer employers strategies and key generational insights to help participants gain the knowledge to succeed in education and workforce development, with the end goal of keeping employees engaged and enthusiastic while improving their performance. Perna is a noted expert on Generations Y and Z, has experience working with Fortune 500 companies and has devoted his career to innovations in workforce training. 

“We are excited to offer this presentation to business owners, taskforce members and those teaching and training the upcoming workforce so that they may better understand how to tap into the unique skillsets of our future generation of employees,” said Erika Greene, Lake County Economic Development & Tourism coordinator. 

The free event is sponsored by the Lake County Economic Growth Department, Lake Technical College and CareerSource Central Florida. Additional partners include Lake County Schools, Lake-Sumter State College, The University of Central Florida, Goodwill Industries, The SBDC at UCF-Lake County and the Business Opportunity Centers, Lake County Library System, Lake County Probation Services, the Chamber Alliance and the Lake County Education Foundation.
