Center for Advanced Manufacturing to break ground on Oct. 30

Release Date: October 15, 2014

EUSTIS – In partnership with Lake County, the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) at Lake Technical College will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Lake Tech, 2001 Kurt St., Eustis

The center will train Computer Numerical Control machinists, welders and fabricators and is set to be one of the premiere workforce training facilities in Central Florida.

“With nearly 7 percent of the county’s workforce in manufacturing, the CAM will provide a much-needed service for training additional skilled workers,” said Robert Chandler, director of Lake County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department. “A broader manufacturing workforce will attract the types of businesses Lake County relies upon for a healthy economy and in turn, bring higher paying jobs to our community.”
In order to respond to the need for high-tech manufacturing workers, Lake County, Lake Technical College, Sen. Alan Hays and Rep. Larry Metz together secured $1.4 million for the CAM. The grant was provided to renovate an 11,500 square-foot facility at Lake Tech, purchase equipment and set up a training program for the manufacturing workforce.

A reception will follow the groundbreaking ceremony. To attend, contact Kim Frazier at 352-589-2250 or email
