Industry Cluster Analysis

Lake County’s Economic Development Department maintains a detailed inventory of Lake County companies. This database allows the office to continually track and monitor industry clusters within the County, a process that is critical to ongoing business support programs and the County’s strategic planning efforts.

Based on the most recent analysis, the healthcare and retail sectors are Lake County's top two industries, with respect to employment, followed closely by the services industry and construction. Government related jobs, including public administration and education, also make up a large percentage of the Lake County employment base. Manufacturing and emerging technologies, such as ag-tech and clean energy, while not the County's largest employment sectors, continue to be a vital segment of the Lake County economy.
